Today I want to share my little girl’s blue princess Halloween costume that I made. To say that she loves this dress is a complete understatement! She has worn it almost every since Halloween.
For the dress I used The Caroline Party Dress pattern from Mouse House Creations for the bodice of the dress and then followed this tutorial from Girl Inspired for the tutu. I made the skirt part a bit fuller then the pattern called for and then bustled the skirt similar to this one here. The navy blue sequin fabric came from Jo Ann Fabrics. I purchased it for another project but those little sparkles were calling my little girls name. I did make the dress a size or so too big. I was anticipating a cold Halloween night and needing to layer. Plus this way they can play dress-up for years to come.
I intended on using the chiffon navy fabric as a lining so that the tulle would not be against my little girls skin but for some reason she had to have it this way. She wanted the blue chiffon in the middle so that she could see more of it. I don’t know! All I know is that when she started shedding tears over it, I gave in and made it the way she wanted. Crazy little girl of mine!
I made the crown from some lace that I purchased at Jo Ann’s. Idea for the crown found here. I guess you could say that I was trying to recreate Stef’s look completely. She just does and amazing job with everything she touches. Plus how cute is her little princess party?!
I used over 18 yards of tulle to make both of my girls dresses. Kinda crazy!
I made her wand by using some canning jar lids and a wooden dowel as the base then just added fabric and lace scraps to it.
The leggings were from Walmart. Not what I was envisioning to go with the dress but that’s ok…neither were the Bogs boots that both girls wore with their costumes.
These two had a blast playing princess and princess fairy’s together. They are the best of friends and I pray daily that it never changes.
Post about the Pink Princess Fairy Costume is here.

Absolutely gorgeous (both of them). I love the details you added to finish it off (crown and wand). So. much. tulle. that must of been a lot to deal with. I’m always amazed at how much is needed for enough fluff.

What ever choices you make to do for your children it will never be forgotten, and its the gals in the dress not the dress that makes the girls you have raised very beautiful gals inside and out
