This weekend I scored a huge piece of cotton knit for only a buck. I was going to make some dresses out of it for the girls, but once I started playing around with the fabric I decided to try making something for myself instead. I’m still a newbie when it comes to making clothes and mostly have had failed attempts at it. But the more I see others making their own clothing, the more I am inspired to make my own. I’m pretty sure there is a tutorial out there for a maxi skirt, but I decided to not waste my time looking for one and instead got sewing. All it took was about 1 hour of sewing and the skirt was complete. 
I’m shocked by how easy it was to make and just wish I had more material so that I could have made the ruffles smaller, more ruffled and closer together. But that’s alright I still love it and it is super comfy! I could have done a much better job making it and now wish I would have taken the time to use my ruler instead of eyeballing it. Some of the ruffles are uneven and are even hodge podged together using the left over scraps to “make it work.”
But regardless of those major details, I can’t help but love this skirt! And Im just excited that I actually made something that I would consider a keeper and would even wear in public. I’m already searching for more knit to make another and this time I’m going to take my time instead of just “making it work.”
Not bad for $1.60, huh?!

This skirt is beautiful…and you will get so much use out of it!! I have one that looks similar that I paid $49 for…so way to go with only $1.60!! I wear my white maxi skirt constantly in the summer…it is such a good staple to have in your wardrobe=)

Very pretty! As a beginning sewer, I've learned that very few people notice flaws, and there are flaws in many store bought items. So wear it confidently and no one will notice!
