Last year Wednesdays were my sons favorite day at school. It was his show and tell day. One night my son asked me for a plastic Walmart bag to carry all of his show and tell items in. Of course instead of giving him a plastic Walmart bag I made him a show and tell bag. As I sat there sewing the bag my hubby chuckled and said “You know, all he wanted was a plastic Walmart bag.” Of course I knew that. I also knew that I wanted to give a special show and tell bag instead. It was just something I wanted to do. The next morning when he asked for the Walmart bag I handed him this one instead. I received the biggest hug and was “the bestest mom in the world.” That right there made it all worth it! Every Wednesday when he packed up his show and tell bag he thanked me for making it for him. Funny how something that I made for him to make him feel special, in turn makes me feel special.
He is already looking forward to show and tell again this year…and already wondering which day it will be!

What a great idea! I might just have to whip up a couple of these for my kiddos! We’re forever losing or breaking things that get tossed willy-nilly into the bookbags at the last minute for ‘Sharing Day’. Thanks for the inspiration!
Such a cute idea! =)
I love this!
How adorable! Sew for your little boy as long as he will let you. It gets harder and harder to sew for boys. I just got done making a T-shirt quilt for my college age son and it was so great to finally get to sew for him again.
And mom of the year award goes to…
