What you may not know about me is that I love being outside exploring more then I love being behind my sewing machine. I am a sucker for outdoor, historical and natural areas. I am not able to drive by one of those little brown signs without stopping. It is amazing what beautiful places I have found by just taking the time to stop and most of them are usually free. It has been the perfect summer to show a lot of these places with the kiddos. They are at the perfect age where an old bridge or a cog train is the coolest thing to look at and we can spend hours doing so. I know it will not always be this way, so I am cherishing these moments while they do. Mt. Prospect Fire Tower is one of those places that I knew the kiddos would love. We spent a few hours hiking around on the trails, picnicing, climbing in the fire tower and just enjoying the day. One thing I have learned this summer is that a lollipop is the best treat to give my kiddos when they are tired and at their breaking points.
