I am sure you have all seen Hayley from Welcome to the Mouse House’s new fabric line Color Me Fabric by now. It is popping up everywhere and it is just about the funnest fabric I have ever seen. I have had the opportunity to make a few projects with fabric from this line now and every time I do, it is just fun. It honestly makes me wish I was a kid again! I made this art coloring tote for my niece for Christmas. I thought it would be fun for her to color a tote that would be holding all of her coloring supplies. The design of the bag is something I came up with on my own. But as you can see it is pretty simple in design. I wanted to make sure that I made something that showcased the fabric but also made it easy to color on. I did add a little color and top stitching just to give it some texture. The fabric is Princess Paisley and a pink cotton fabric also from Michael Miller Fabrics.
My niece simply loved the tote and started coloring it right away. I consider that a win in my book! The Color Me Fabric line just adds one more fun dimension to sewing. To be able to give a handmade gift that one can color on and add their own touch to is just about as cool as it gets!
