Today I have the honor of participating in the Acorn Valley Blog Tour to celebrate the new fabric line that Patty Young from ModKid has created with Riley Blake Designs.
The Acorn Valley fabric line is seriously so adorable! I had such a hard time choosing which fabrics to work with. So I just ended up letting my girls decide on which fabrics they wanted along with which pattern to use.
My girls decided on the Acorn Valley Flutter Red and Teal for fabrics and the Hailey Girls Dress Pattern from Modkid.
As usual the Riley Blake fabric was a dream to work with. I would say its somewhere between a lightweight and medium weight knit. It is easy enough to work with but still the perfect weight for the hot summer heat.
The pattern was also a dream to work with and it came together so quickly! I did make one change to the pattern though. Instead of shirring at the bottom of the bodice I opted for an enclosed elastic waist. In doing so, I simply added an extra 1 1/2″ to the bottom of the front and back bodice pieces to make up for the extra fabric that I used to enclose the elastic.
I think the dresses are simply adorable and they are exactly my girls style. They are already asking for more dresses for school.
