the marina romper

I first shared these pictures over at Project Run and Play as their flashback May series but wanted to share them here as well.

I used The Marina Romper pattern from Cali Faye. It is such a fun and fast sewing project, plus the girls just LOVE them!

You can tell just by looking at them that they are super comfy.

For this romper I sewed a size two sizes smaller then what I normally do because of the cotton fabric that I used. I knew that it would not look good with this type of fabric being bunched up too much.

The only other thing I did differently was on the bottom. I hemmed them with a large hem so that it allows for growth in the length. I think we can all agree this romper will fit for years to come. I just love making clothes that can be worn for a long period of time!

Today I have my sweet and super talented friend Hayley from Welcome to the Mouse House and Mouse House Creations.

I was first introduced to Hayley’s Blog years ago when I competed against her in Project Run and Play (and of course lost against her). I knew way back then that she was one talented lady! Since then Hayley has started her own pattern line Mouse House Creations as well as for Willow and Co Patterns. Her patterns are not only perfection but I always learn some new little trick from them. I am amazed by not only her knowledge and creativity but by her drive as well. She is always busy with something new and is even a regular contributor for the magazine Kids Crafts 1-2-3. There is nothing funner then walking the aisles of the local Walmart and seeing her daughter on the front cover! Hayley’s blog is full of sewing, craft and home decor projects. If you have not been over there before it is a must read! Below are just a few of my favorites off her blog.

Today we have Abby from Things for Boys sharing her sewing space.

First of all, how ridiculously cute is Abby? I just love this picture! I am fairly new to Abby’s blog Things for Boys but have been a loyal follower since I purchased her The Big Tote Bag Pattern a few months back. It is such a great pattern and I still carry this bag with me everywhere. Abby’s blog is full of sewing projects for her boys and herself, as well as some yummy recipes, crafts and organizing tips. tooth fairy pillow

This past weekend my little girl lost her first tooth, so I stayed up late Saturday night making her a tooth fairy pillow.

I had seen these tooth fairy pillows over at The Homemade Home and just fell in love with them. I decided to use the same basic concept for mine but mix it up a little bit.

My little girl woke up super early Sunday morning to see if the tooth fairy had come. When she saw her pillow hanging on her bed she was excited. She was even kind enough to wake up her sister to show her. The excitement from both of them was so contagious! I wish I could keep it like this for forever!

Of course her favorite part was the magic fairy dust that the tooth fairy left.

growing gardens

As you may have noticed I have not sewn in months and my blogging has been pretty sparse as well. I have a very hard time being inside when the weather is so beautiful outside.

Instead of sewing I have been spending most of my time working around the house. I have been painting the house, adding onto my flower beds in the front as well as putting in two new walkways. And of course I have spent many hours out in the gardens.

The gardens are growing like crazy right now. I swear some days I could watch them grow right before my eyes. I took these pictures about a week ago and I am pretty sure it has doubled in size since then.

No matter how many times I plant a garden, I am always amazed at how fast a tiny little seed can grow into a large plant that bares fruit.

I harvested a 1/2 bushel of broccoli and cauliflower last night and our summer squash and zucchini will be ready in a few days. I think it is time to finally open up my farm stand.

Today we have Jenya from While She Was Sleeping sharing her sewing space.

I have recently come to know Jenya and her blog and I am so glad I have! She makes the most adorable outfits for her little girl and I just love the patterns she uses. Jenya has some mad skills when it comes to piping and I love how she adds it to most of her pieces. It is one of those things I don’t sew with frequently but think it makes a garment look so polished and professional. Below are just a few of my favorites from her blog. Today we have Liz from Simple Simon and Co, Project Sewn and Project Run and Play sharing her sewing space.

Liz (along with her sister in law Elizabeth) run three amazing blogs and constantly have me in awe! Not just in awe of their amazing projects but in all that they do. I seriously have no idea how they do it! I have a hard time keeping up with one blog, let alone three! These two sisters are two of the nicest and sweetest girls I have ever come to know. We still have not had the pleasure of meeting in real life but I know that some day we will!
